Sheffield’s new 10-year Culture Strategy has been published, marking an exciting step forward for the city’s creative future. Led by Sheffield City Council, the University of Sheffield, and Arts Council England, the strategy was developed in partnership with creative consultancy Fourth Street, Sheffield-based social enterprise Opus Independents, and a team of cultural freelancers from across the city.
Sheffield is a city alive with artists, makers, and doers. While our world-renowned musicians, designers, and creatives are celebrated globally, those who live here know the depth of talent embedded in our communities and neighbourhoods. Yet, as a city, we can do more to help these individuals thrive. With this in mind, a fresh vision has been developed for creativity, arts, and culture in Sheffield.
“We hope this vision will ensure that everyone who lives, works, or visits here has the opportunity to participate, collaborate, and benefit from the many wonderful contributions that arts and culture bring to our city.”
As part of the process, there was a citywide consultation on culture, engaging with Sheffield’s creative community to shape the new culture strategy. These insights, feedback, and contributions have been invaluable in shaping the Sheffield Culture Strategy. These will help create a vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape for our city.
