We are excited to announce our exhibition and participation programmes for 2025.
From February – May 2025, Site presents solo exhibition Subjects of State, Labours of Love from artist and filmmaker Rhea Storr. The exhibition offers an intimate portrait of Caribbean Associations in Wolverhampton and Sheffield. In the summer months, we will host our annual summer exhibition, co-curated by youth group Society of Explorers. From September 2025 – January 2026, major exhibition Slime Mother from artist Abi Palmer will create an alternate universe where, rather than treated with disgust, slugs are worshipped. We have also launched Creative Producers this month, our new programme for care experienced young people, and continue our work with Society of Explorers to test new artistic ideas and develop the programme.
2024 – 2028
CREATIVE PRODUCERS
Creative Producers is Site Gallery’s new programme for care experienced young people aged 18-25. The programme is designed to develop creativity and professional skills and learn about the creative industries in Sheffield.
Working in partnership with Sheffield City Council’s Voice and Influence Team, the Creative Producers will take part in weekly creative workshops designed around their interests, working with a variety of artists, learning new skills, exploring their creative practice, and producing events. They will also be taking trips to different arts organisations to experience a wide range of activity taking place in the city and beyond.
The project is generously funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
SOCIETY OF EXPLORERS
Society of Explorers is a collective of young people aged 14 – 19 who meet weekly at the gallery to collaborate with artists, create their own artwork, and help to develop Site Gallery’s programme. Find out more about Creative Producers and Society of Explorers here.

EXHIBITION: SUBJECTS OF STATE, LABOURS OF LOVE
RHEA STORR
Subjects of State, Labours of Love is a two-chapter film by artist Rhea Storr. Shot on 16mm, the film presents an intimate portrait of Caribbean Associations in 1980’s Wolverhampton, and Sheffield’s African and Caribbean Community Association, SADACCA.
Presented as an immersive multi-channel video installation and exhibition at Site Gallery, this body of work captures the shared joys, celebrations, struggles, oppressions and complexities experienced by Caribbean heritage communities.
Commissioned by Film and Video Umbrella, Site Gallery and Wolverhampton Art Gallery. The commission and its acquisition by Wolverhampton Art Gallery are made possible with Art Fund support. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

EXHIBITION: SLIME MOTHER
ABI PALMER
Slime Mother is a major solo exhibition by artist Abi Palmer. The exhibition creates an alternate universe where, rather than treated with disgust, slugs are worshipped. Through slime, queerness, politics of space and deeply erotic, alien mating rituals, Slime Mother invites audiences to merge and connect with this complex gastropod, and embrace its resilient strangeness.
Slime Mother has been commissioned by Chapter Arts Centre in partnership with KARST and Site Gallery, where the exhibition will tour in September 2025. The exhibition was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and the Henry Moore Foundation.
