Finding Us

When travelling by train or bus

Site Gallery is approximately a 3 minute walk from Sheffield train station.

On exiting the train station follow the steel water sculpture up the slope towards Sheaf Square. Cross the road at the traffic lights, going across the pedestrian walkway in front of the Showroom Cinema and turn left onto Paternoster Row. Continue along Paternoster Row until it becomes Brown Street. Site Gallery is on your left, just after the Workstation.

There are a number of buses which stop on Paternoster Row / Brown Street outside Site Gallery, including Sheffield Connect – the city centre’s dedicated electric bus service providing free travel for everyone to make it easier to get around the city centre. Find out more about local bus services here.

When traveling by car:

There are a number of parking bays on Brown Street or within close proximity to Site Gallery which charge around £1.50 per hour. There are four free disabled parking bays available outside our neighbours, Showroom Workstation.

We recommend you use a Sat Nav navigation tool to drive to Brown Street which can be tricky to navigate due to the one way system.

Public car parks close to the gallery:

Our building

Our reception area, gallery, cafe, large studio space (Studio I) and shop are located on the ground floor of our building, which is a level area and wheelchair accessible. The main door to our building is automatic, and the gallery door is left open during exhibitions.

Our office spaces and smaller studio space (Studio II) can be accessed via lift. These spaces are not accessible to the general public unless attending a specified workshop or event.

Our Toilets

All of our toilets are gender-neutral, with their own washbasin, hand dryer and sanitary bin. On the ground floor there are two disabled toilets, one including baby changing facilities. We unfortunately do not currently have a Changing Places toilet facility in our venue.

Our Visitors

Wheelchair users and visitors who use a mobility aid

Our venue is wheelchair accessible and exhibitions are carefully designed to accommodate mobility aids.

We provide portable Walking Stick Stools in the gallery for those who may need to take a seat during their visit. We can also provide hard backed plastic chairs upon request from the front desk.

Some seating is always provided in the exhibitions.

Blind and visually impaired visitors

Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of our venue. Water bowls can be provided.

We offer large print text materials for exhibitions. These can be found on the display below the exhibition text, to the right of the gallery door.

Deaf visitors and BSL users

All video content is captioned. There is a hearing loop in our reception area, but not currently in the gallery space.

Neurodivergent visitors

Disposable earplugs and children’s and adult’s ear defenders are available at our reception desk to create a more comfortable experience.

Coloured overlays are available for exhibition handouts.

Our quietest time of day to visit is generally between 4pm – 5pm.

We run a Relaxed Viewing Hour between 11am – 12pm every Thursday. These hours provide brighter natural lighting and quieter sound.

Non-English Speaking visitors

Currently, exhibition texts are only available in English. We aim to use simple language in our exhibition texts.

Site Gallery is working to improve accessibility across all areas. We will update this document as progress is made. Your feedback and suggestions are invaluable to us in shaping a more accessible space, and we appreciate your patience and support as we work towards providing an environment that can be enjoyed by everyone.
